It reminded me of any number of immaculately minimal buildings built under the sign of modernism. It might have been the shell of a museum of contemporary art or an academic research facility. A form so banal but made extraordinary by the context of its site, by the fact of its standing out. Yet, unmistakably beautiful as well (at least, to my eye) as an image, an object in the landscape, and as a potential place to be. Driving in the car, one moment there was only flatness and then the concrete structure appeared almost instantaneously like some great pop-up building. |
